Job Fair Impacts Community with 790 Job Offers

Friday, October 12, 2018, Councilmember Marqueece Harris-Dawson hosted the Harvard Park Job Fair in order to tackle the lack of jobs in our communities. Empowerment Congress Central was proud to be a sponsor of the fair. South LA currently has some of the highest unemployment and underemployment rates in the city.

The Harvard Park Job Fair included over 1,000 available openings from over 40 companies. Unlike other job fairs, this event concluded in 790 follow-up interviews and onsite job offerings. The job fair also served as a resource to help residents build resumes, navigate job applications, and prepare for interviews. Clothes the Deal, a non-profit organization, also provided free professional clothing to residents in need.

We are proud of the amazing turnout from residents and businesses! The Harvard Park Job Fair is the third annual job fair and a key project of the Community Safety Partnership at Harvard Park. Bringing jobs to South LA is our top priority and we look forward to creating many more opportunities for residents to change their lives.
