The Empowerment Congress Central Community needs You!
We are having an election June 15 and need people who are passionate about our community to run for seats on our Council and be the change you want to see in our community.
All seats are up for election for a two year term.
Please Read our Bylaws to understand the role and expectations of each seat and to determine if you are eligible.
Review our Boundary Map below to see if you live, work, or own property in our boundaries.
What do I need to know about running for a seat?
This brief 3-1/2 minute What It Means To Be A Candidate Video is a great introduction to running for a seat on our council.
We want to create a forum to discuss our concerns and work with our elected representatives including City Councilmember, Marqueece Harris-Dawson to develop solutions. Our goal is community improvement through civic engagement.
Candidates should be available to attend our monthly meetings and be active in at least one committee.
There will be a workshop on March 9, 10am at the Angeles Mesa Library
At a Candidate Workshop you’ll learn tips for:
- running a successful campaign
- connecting with voters
- advocating for issues you’re passionate about
- writing your personal statements
Workshops are being held across the city of Los Angeles between January – March 2019. If the class you want is full, make sure to join the waitlist, to receive a class packet. Sign up for a workshop on Eventbrite.
