In partnership with the Bureau of Sanitation, Council District Eight assisted families who were living in Recreational Vehicles (RVs) in the industrial area south of Western and Slauson. The area was cleaned up and RV inhabitants were provided relocation assistance alongside other social services.

In the Central area, the Western corridor near Slauson and Florence received major tree trimming work. Additionally, after a year of arduous work, the Department of Water and Power is finalizing the sewer rehabilitation project located at Slauson Avenue and Van Ness Avenue.
The goal is to identify land use strategies for the Slauson corridor as it spans the old rail right of way that is currently being envisioned for a pedestrian/bicycle path by Metro.
